"You have a Mind?
-Yes.
Well, why not use it? Isn't that all you want-for it to do its job?" -Marcus Aurelius
Let’s be real: it’s way too easy these days to let other people—or even the internet—do the thinking for us. We scroll, we like, we follow trends, and before we know it, we’re reacting to the world instead of actually figuring out what we think about it. Although Marcus Aurelius has some very introspective and philosophical literature, he is still able to call out the obvious. The thing is, most of us don’t let our minds really work the way they’re meant to.
Your brain is like this superpowered muscle, a racecar that’s built to go full throttle. But instead of fueling it with deep thought, creativity, or self-reflection, we fill it with distractions, shortcuts, and surface-level stuff. When you let the world dictate your thoughts, you lose touch with what makes you you—your values, your perspective, your ability to come up with ideas that could change the world, or at least your world!
So, how do you stop letting everything else think for you? Start by giving yourself permission to slow down. Ask yourself what you really believe, what you want, and why you’re doing what you’re doing. That’s where the magic happens—when you take back the driver’s seat and start using your mind the way it was designed to be used.
